f*bomberoo
This school/ program is seriously flawed. Fuck, how can this be a good program. College = getting a g*d-dam* job. How do we get a job in the design field? Oh, I don’t know, a f*cking portfolio! Last year, last semester, only a month left of school, and are we focusing on our portfolio yet?
Umm, no. I am honestly don’t care anymore about Intern, thesis, or any other bull in this program. We should have our portfolios done right now. Printed, finalized and done. Therefore we could not only be actually “applying” for jobs, RIGHT NOW, but hey, our program could be “useful” and actually help us apply too.
But no, its smarter to push the most important thing from f*cking college right down to f*cking minute. Sorry about the amount of F-Bombs I am dropping in this post, but its a necessity. This program is just outright a lie, and a fantasy-land to the professors. They just automatically think its a great program, without even questioning the idea that it could be a thousand times better.
Well, I think the structure of our last year is an true punch to the face. We pay alot of money to go here, time and oh ya alot of time spend in this program. How are we repaid? - by being stressed, since we cram the most important aspect of getting a job to the literal last minute basis. How could this slip past the professors? Easy, since they are in the mindset that this is a gold-mine for us, students. How about asking us about the program - feedback to make it better. Na.
Anywho, I am really upset over this issue. Portfolio = job. Job = money. And we all NEED money. Not want, need. We are all in debt from college loans and low-paying part times jobs. And if our portfolio reflect the amount of time, our program gives us to work on them, then we are all screwed. Our portfolios should not be under-estimated at all. I have a son, and a portfolio is not only my future, but also his. Me getting a good job means my son getting a better life, or a normal one. Having a baby instantly makes my life about money, since I don’t lie to myself about how its going to be every year he grows older. Kids cost some mula ya know.
I just wish this program gets a f*cking wake up call, since how you structure the program does have real-time effects on people’s lives. It does. This last year is absolute largest flaw in this program. Stop being elite about the program, and start being open - seriously. - the professors really need to start thinking like this, if this program is really going to make a difference in design education. Anywho, take it as you will, later.
